XIX EUCARPIA Meeting of the Tomato Working Group

Right before the TomGEM consortium will gather for its 2nd Annual Progress Meeting from May 7-9, 2018 in Vico Equense, the XIX EUCARPIA meeting of the Tomato Working Group is being organised.

The Section Vegetables of the European Association for Research and Plant Breeding (EUCARPIA) is hosted by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA) from May 2-4, 2018 in Naples/ Italy.

The conference will cover all relevant aspects of tomato genetics and breeding. It will provide an excellent opportunity for tomato researchers and breeders to share and discuss advances and innovations on genetic resources, crop production, fruit quality and post-harvest, biotic and abiotic stresses as well as genomics and biotechnological approaches.

TomGEM partners are core part of the local organising committee and the scientific programme. Local TomGEM partners Prof. Luigi Frusciante and Prof. Amalia Barone (University of Naples) are co-organising the meeting and further partners have key roles in the scientific committee.

The scientific meeting programme also includes a session where the coordinators of the Horizon 2020 projects TomGEM (Prof. Mondher Bouzayen), TRADITOM (Prof. Antonio Granell) and TomRES (Prof. Andrea Schubert) will present and discuss their projects.

The region around Naples is particularly relevant for the work performed in TomGEM as Campania is an important area for the recovery and valorisation of local horticultural germplasm.
