Presentation of TomGEM at the Expolevante Nijar 2018

On April 18, 2018, project partners Prof. Antonio Granell (Agencia Estatal Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC) and Dr Carlos Baixauli (Fundación Cajamar Comunidad Valenciana) presented the TomGEM project at the Feria de Agricultura Expolevante organised in Nijar (Almeria, Spain). Their talk addressed the general audience, tomato growers and technical staff introducing them to the main objectives, aims and first results of the project.

Dr Carlos Baixauli presented general aspects of the TomGEM consortium and gave an introduction to the topic of climate change and its influence on the tomato crop. Afterwards, Prof. Antonio Granell discussed how TomGEM selects superior tomato varieties under stress conditions and aims to design innovative breeding and management strategies in order to provide tomato producers with commercial varieties better adapted to elevated temperatures.
