John Innes Centre Breeders’ Day 2018

The John Innes Centre will be holding its annual Breeders’ Day on June 7, 2018. The day will focus on ‘Diversifying UK crops and diet’ and brings together scientists, breeders, end users, policy-makers and funding body representatives to talk about scientific research that addresses the grand challenges of the 21st century agriculture. Discussions will include maintenance of crop yield, disease resistance, drought tolerance, heat tolerance and a healthy diet. Several confirmed speakers including Prof. Cathie Martin and Dr. Vera Thole will introduce the EU project TomGEM that aims at improving tomato yield and quality in the face of climate change. Work on tomato post-harvest properties under elevated temperatures will be presented to UK farmers and tomato breeders.
